Who am I:

I'm research associate working in the research project on Seismic Microzonation of Anchorage , Alaska at the Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska, Fairbanks. I came to Fairbanks from Asansol, an Industrial town of West Bengal, India. It is located 200 km west of Calcutta.

Academic background:

I graduated in 1988 from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, India with M.Sc(Tech) in Geophysics. I received  my Ph.D in Geophysics also from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 1992.  My Ph.D  work is on the interpretation of Aeromagnetic anomalies over Narmada-Son lineament, India.

Research Position:

In 1991, after submitting my Ph. D thesis, I worked as a Research Fellow in  Center of Georesources, University of Delhi South Campus for one year (1991-1992) in the Department of Science and Technology project on Seismicity around Delhi and adjoining areas. There only I got my first experience on Observational Seismology. The center was equipped with strong motion digital recorder (SSA of Kinemetrics), analogue recorder (PS2 of Kinemetrics). I was involved with data analysis  and interpretation.

Teaching Position:

In 1992, I joined  the Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar as a Lecturer ( Asst. Professor  level) in Geophysics. I taught the courses on  Geophysical Data Inversion, Seismic Data Processing, Potential field theory to the graduate students of Geophysics.
