Paddling my friend Paul's one-man outrigger canoe off of Diamond Head crater, Hawai`i.

Some relevant facts...I am a U.S.G.S. Mendenhall postdoc in volcano seismology. I am working on two major projects at present: a study of siemsic signals associated with debris avlanches at Iliamna volcano and an investigation of triggered seismicity in the Katmai volcanic group. My previous research at AVO has involved the seismicity and eruptive behavior of Shishaldin Volcano. This involves looking at acoustic signals from Shishaldin's 1999 eruption and doing a detailed study of the repeating low-frequency and couopled earthquakes that have been shaking Shishaldin for the past two years. In 2001 I finished my Ph.D. at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa, studying seismic and acoustic signals detected on and near Lo`ihi volcano.

Feel free to peruse my web site and let me know what you think. Some stuff is still from my Hawai`i web site, or from my Fairbanks days, so it is pretty outdated.

An excellent day out at the Kilauea ocean entry.
